In 2018 Michael Scherotter, a Microsoft Principal Program Manager, released Sketch 360 to the Microsoft Store. Best mac wallpaper app.
The app lets you 360 panoramic sketches easily on your Windows tablet.
Today Scherotter published a blog post on his process of bringing the same app to Android and specifically enhancing it for the Surface Duo.
He notes that thee Surface Duo uniquely supported the pressure-sensitive Surface Pen, and also had a dual-screen interface which matched very well with the two-pane UI of Sketch 360 on Windows.

Sketch’s “Leaving the Mac App Store” doesn’t mention they’ll make 27% more money per sale. — Ben Sandofsky (@sandofsky) December 1, 2015. Bohemian Coding has pulled its popular design app Sketch from the Mac App Store. In a blog post, it cites numerous reasons for the switch, 'many of which in isolation wouldn't cause huge concern.'
He, therefore, decided to rebuilt Sketch 360 using Xamarin.Forms, so he could target Surface Duo, other pen-native Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note, and any other modern Android devices as well as Apple iOS devices with a single app.
The architecture of the app consists of two sides, a drawing canvas, and a 360 view. Every time the user adds a stroke, the 360 view is updated and pans to the ending point of the stroke just added. The drawing canvas on Windows used the native InkCanvas control which made it easy to collect and render ink. In moving to Xamarin Forms, he needed to rewrite most of the C# and Xaml code and needed to find something to provide ink input since there was no analog to the InkCanvas for Xamarin Forms. He created an InkCanvasView using SkiaSharp which handled inking input and rendering, tooled to offer a similar API surface to UWP InkCanvas, and implementing just enough of it to support the Sketch 360 core scenarios:
In Xamarin Forms he serialized ink to a simple JSON format and modified the Windows version to be able to read that format in addition to the Windows ink. This means that you can start a sketch on your phone, save the .sketch360 file to your OneDrive, and open it up again on a larger Surface device to complete it.
Michael found the new Xamarin Forms TwoPaneView API for dual-screen devices made it easy to define a UI that adapts fluidly from a single pane to two, portrait, or landscape.
Xamarin forms made the process of creating a cross-platform mobile creative app straightforward, and with the additional tools in the Xamarin Essentials, he was able to make it as functional and performant as a native app. He was also able to do most of the development using the Surface Duo Emulator without having a physical device in-hand.
The 360 view is a WebView control using Babylon.JS, an open-source JavaScript 3D framework which has a PhotoDome API. He was able to use the HTML/JavaScript code using Babylon.JS with very little modifications from the Windows version.
The completed app is now available on Google Play and works with any modern Android device, but works best with devices that support pressure-sensitive pens like the Surface Duo and Samsung Galaxy Note. How to open find my iphone app on mac.

Bohemian Coding:
We don’t expect this decision to be unanimously popular, but wewant to share how we arrived at it. We take your satisfactionand support seriously, and hope you can understand the choice wehave made.
There are a number of reasons for Sketch leaving the Mac App Store— many of which in isolation wouldn’t cause us huge concern. However as with all gripes, when compounded they make it hard tojustify staying: App Review continues to take at least a week, there are technical limitations imposed by the Mac App Storeguidelines (sandboxing and so on) that limit some of the featureswe want to bring to Sketch, and upgrade pricing remainsunavailable.
We should also add that this move is not a knee-jerk reaction tothe recent certificate expiration problems that affected so manyMac App Store customers. However, in light of what happened, wecan’t help but feel vindicated in our decision that the Mac AppStore is not in our customers’ best interests right now.
Deeply troubling indictment of the Mac App Store. Sketch isn’t the first big name professional app to be pulled from the Mac App Store (Bare Bones Software’s BBEdit, Panic’s Coda, Quicken, just to name a few). But Sketch is the poster child for Mac App Store era professional Mac software. Bear app mac review. It’s the sort of app Apple might demo in a keynote — and the winner of an Apple Design Award. Apple thinks so highly of it that they provide Sketch templates for Apple Watch UI designers. It’s incredibly popular (and was among the top-grossers on the Mac App Store), Mac-only, and they want no part of the Mac App Store.
The Mac App Store should be designed to make developers like Bohemian Coding (and Bare Bones, and Panic, etc.) happy. It should make developing for the Mac better, not worse than selling outside the App Store. These are among the best apps on the platform, from developers who have been loyal to Apple and the Mac for decades.
Sketch Software Mac
The Mac App Store is rotting, at least for productivity software. There’s no other way to put it. If this hasn’t set off alarm bells within Apple, something is very wrong.
